My New Website, New Focus, and New Photos

DMS casualMy new website is now live and I’m thrilled! The upgrade includes a cleaner design, larger fonts, clearer descriptions of what I do, and new photos of me. I also used this opportunity to highlight my focus to how to build fandom in any organization, idea, or product.

For over two decades, my ideas have sparked major shifts in how to generate attention online, using real-time marketing, sales, and PR. Going forward, I’m spending most of my efforts teaching a kinder and gentler approach to marketing than participating in a social media arms race to the bottom.

I’m not completely dismissing the importance of social media. It’s still valuable. And I will continue to be active in social networks. However, I see a different way forward to market an organization in 2026 and beyond: building genuine human connections that create fans and grow businesses.

This new site helps me to share those ideas.

My website update process

DMS home pageI used the same multi-step process to build my new site that I share with organizations of all kinds:

1. Identify your buyer personas. Like most organizations, I have a variety of people that I reach including individuals who want to grow their business and might buy one of my books, meeting planners and speakers bureau representatives who need to know about my talks, and organizations looking for help to implement my ideas.

2. Create content for buyers. I rewrote all the text in the new site and had several people review it and provide suggestions for improvement. In addition, I have a ton of free content including more than two decades of blog posts, free ebooks, and other resources. I created a new insights center that makes it easier to find what I’ve created.

3. Use real photos. During nearly a full day several months ago, I had new photos taken of me. I hadn’t done a proper photo shoot in nearly a decade… it was time! Except for a few minor color tweaks and the conversion of several photos to black & white, no Photoshop or AI enhancements were used in my photos.

4. Make it easy to learn and buy. On my speaker page, I provide as many details as possible so meeting planners and speakers bureau representatives can learn about my talks.

5. Show us your passions! One of the most surprising things I’ve learned as I’ve studied ways to grow fans of a business is that passion is infectious. When you show what you’re passionate about, people gravitate to you even if they do not share the same passions. I did that in a big way on the about page of my new site.

DMS in actionMy website is built on the HubSpot platform, which provides for design flexibility and easy updating, with tons of visitor data on how the site is used. (Disclosure: I am on the HubSpot Advisory Board.)

My friends at IMPACT helped me create the website. They're a HubSpot Diamond Partner with deep knowledge of the best ways to use HubSpot features.

Many of the photos were shot by my pal Evan Perkins in late 2025. Evan shoots with fabulous Leica cameras in natural light, and I love how he has captured various aspects of my life.

Some of the photos of me on stage were shot at various Tony Robbins Business Mastery events around the world. Thank you to Tony and his team and especially photographers Rajiv, Milla, Brandon, and Will.

Most importantly, my wife and business partner Yukari Watanabe Scott provides incredible advice in all aspects of my work, including this new site.

I'd like to briefly mention my friend Doug Eymer who passed away in 2025. Doug was my go-to designer on many projects over more than 25 years, including several book covers and free ebooks featured on my new site. Doug was an important part of my life and my business and he will be missed.
