For twenty years, Google was my go-to when I had a question. Google works great to surface relevant blue links that I can click to learn more. And in the past nearly two years, I’ve also been using ChatGPT to provide a descriptive answer to my queries. Perplexity.ai is a cool hybrid between a LLM chatbot and a traditional blue link search engine.
The way Perplexity displays answers to natural language queries, showing a text answer together with links for more information, is the future.
For example, when I searched “What are some unusual museums to visit in the USA?” I got a list plus the sources that Perplexity.ai used to generate the list. I hope to visit the National Mustard Museum if I find myself with some free time in Middleton, Wisconsin!
Since I first wrote about Perplexity.ai early this year, it has become my go-to. I am using more often than Google or ChatGPT.
