We crave this connection. The importance of being with other people is hardwired into each of us, a survival technique developed over thousands of generations.
When we are with our tribe of like-minded people, we feel safe and comfortable.
Are there ways that you can being customers closer to your employees? Or customers closer to each other? How can you develop experiences that showcase humanity?
For example, my friend Jesse Cole, owner of the Savannah Bananas baseball team, is down with the fans at every game. You can’t miss him in his yellow tuxedo – he doesn’t just wear a yellow tux sometimes, he wears it all the time! The Bananas are all about people and humanity and they sell out every game they play.
Can you hold a client conference like HubSpot INBOUND that attracts over 10,000 people in-person each year?
Maybe you can invite customers for a factory tour like Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream?
Or perhaps you can offer your space for private parties like Garage 42?
In a digital-first world, shared experiences still win hearts. When people come together, the shared emotions are a powerful driver of fandom and an antidote to the digital world we live in.
