Riding the Rave

March, 2009

My friends Tim Washer, Scott Teems, and I put together a three part video series to show the absurdity of working with others.

Riding the Rave part 1: David’s New Manager
You know when your marketing agency or business partner just doesn't get it? It's frustrating as hell.

Riding the Rave part 1: Brainstorming
You know how sometimes plans get in the way of action? The discussions become circular very quickly.

Riding the Rave part 1: In Search of the Fifth P
Have you ever been in a discussion where the idea becomes more important than the goal? The conversation goes down a rat hole very quickly.

Gaijin Male Model

My essay - Gaijin Male Model - was published by The North American Review (the oldest literary magazine in the United States) in the Summer 2004. Gaijin Male Model was also published in 2007 in an anthology called Hacks: 10 Years on Grub Street.

As many writers know, sometimes you can suffer burnout from writing too much of the same thing. Sometimes I just write for fun, and sometimes the fun stuff is also published.

The story begins: “Fifteen years and a few pounds ago I was one of the first twenty-something gaijin models in Tokyo to specialize in the young businessman look.”
